On Saturday, November 12, 2022 the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department held a dedication ceremony to commemorate the opening of Hyatt Park’s newly renovated basketball courts.
The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department renovated the courts in partnership with Project Backboard, Buffalo Wild Wings, Pepsi, and Mountain Dew. Renovations included resurfacing courts, adding partner organization logos, and original artwork by Charmaine Minniefield, artist and community activist, who painted a mural at the Hyatt Park Community Center.
A’ja Wilson, former USC athlete, current WNBA player, winner of the Gold Medal, and NCAA Basketball Champion was in attendance. This project was made possible as a direct result of her support for the City of Columbia.
The City’s Parks and recreation Department is grateful for the partner organizations funding this project.
